You may have heard of Google’s recent new product launch - Google Buzz…. I highly recommend watching this 2 minute video to learn more about it.
Some say it’s Google’s way of directly competing with Facebook by making gMail a more social space.
Not sure if it will really be a direct competitor to FB (or just FB - it also incorporates a mobile function that’s a lot like 4square and other mobile social networks), but it does add great deal of social functionality to gMail users (over a 150million people worldwide) so it’s likely to have an effect on how people share and discuss information.
Perhaps there will be an opportunity for marketers to initiate “buzzes,” sponsor buzzes or recommend buzzes….who knows….stay tuned.
